Investigative version as an integral idea of cognition of cause-and-effect relationships of the mechanism of crime

Introduction: the article discusses the role and significance of the version in the investigative activity to establish cause-and-effect relationships between the elements of the crime mechanism. Using the example of putting forward and checking versions for various categories of crimes under investigation, the effectiveness of using the provisions of the modeling theory is shown. It is concluded that the investigative version is an applied universal forensic tool for establishing a forensic cause-and-effect relationship of a criminal event. Materials and Methods: research on the establishment of cause-and-effect relationships in the mechanism of crime through the promotion and verification of investigative versions was carried out on the materials of investigative and judicial practice, which was analyzed based on the study of data contained in the materials of criminal cases. The author actively used a statistical method, a system of formal logical methods, a method of system analysis, as well as methods of observation, comparison, analogy and abstraction. The Results of the Study: allowed us clarifying certain provisions about the theoretical aspect of the forensic concept - “version”, considering the possibilities of new aspects of its research based on the concepts and concepts of modeling theory. The author suggests the conditions that the version must meet, as a type of hypothesis, for the knowledge of cause-and-effect relationships of the mechanism of crime. Findings and Conclusions: in accordance with the substantiation of theoretical and practical importance to the investigation version the conclusions regarding its efficient use in the practice of investigation of crimes for the purposes of establishing causation of an event.
