Quantitative and structural analysis of dissertation research of tourism in the Russian Federation

The article gives some experience in carrying out scientometric research of quantity of dissertation research for the PhD degree devoted to the problems of tourism and recreation. The article is focused on dissertation research devoted to tourism, that have been defended in our country beginning from 1980-s. The aim of this scientific study was to define the total number of theses and to determine their division according to scientific areas in Russia. In accordance with this aim the authors focus their attention on the analysis of activity of scientists representing different fields such as economics, pedagogy, sociology and others. The article presents some methods and the results of the author's scientometric study of dissertation activity in the research dealing with tourism and recreation in Russia. The analysis has been carried out in two stages. The first stage of the research (1985-2010) is described in the journal “Regional researches” №2, 2011. The main source of information used at the second stage of this study was Electronic theses catalogue of Higher attestation commission. The theses that have the words “tourism”, “tourist”, “recreation”, excursion”, and “spa” in their titles were regarded as touristic research. As a result, the author revealed 1953 candidate and doctor theses referred to 18 scientific fields. Considering the size of Russia, the obtained results are obviously correlated with foreign experiences described in the article. The table gives absolute and relative number of theses on each field (the percentage of the total number), the data being given on the stages and on the total result. The obvious leaders in the sphere of tourism research turned is economics, pedagogy and geography, and the figure in the article shows this fact very well. The share of these scientific fields accounts for 84, 4 % of all theses, defended in Russia on problems of tourism and recreation. Finally, the author gives their own opinion on such a great popularity of geographic, economic and pedagogical studies in tourism. The obtained results may be used for future planning of new studies in tourism.

For the first time in domestic and foreign scientific circulation, theoretical aspects related to the previously briefly mentioned scientific tourism of a religious orientation are revealed. It is proposed to consider this type of tourism as one of the directions of religious and educational tourism. The article offers the definition of scientific religious tourism, and also, depending on the purpose of the trip, two of its subspecies are distinguished - scientific and educational eventful and scientific expeditionary tourism. It is noted that due to the extremely low level of coverage of the problem, the sources of empirical materials are specific. One of the opportunities for the implementation of travel, caused by scientific religious tourism, are theological scientific conferences organized by monasteries and spiritual educational organizations, and some data were obtained by the method of participatory observation during the visits undertaken by the authors of those events in 2015-2020. The article shows that scientific and educational events of religious content, as well as accompanying books and other products, contribute to stimulate interest in visiting unique sacred places. The existing experience in organizing tours will diversify the offers on the market of tourist services and religious tourism of excursion and educational orientation.

The research is focused on manifestation of the social role and economic activity of the country's dominant religious institution, Roman Catholic Church of France (RCCF), in the conditions of functioning of the model of state-church relations in France. Research hypothesis: RCCF, despite the secular trends in European society and other factors restricting its influence at present stage, remains an important religious institution in French society that has a significant impact on the socio-economic development of the country and its individual regions. The work substantiates culture-creating role of the RCCF in the country, based on the analysis in the dynamics of the initial statistical data concerning the degree of active participation of the population in religious ceremonies and rituals. The authors reveal nature, directions and main methods of implementation of the RCCF activities related to its social responsibility. Among them, the key ones at present stage are the fight against the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic; measures aimed at adaptation of migrants, provision of financial, advisory and other types of assistance to the segments of the population in need. It is concluded that, without the status of a state religious institution, the RCCF largely at its own expense duplicates the social functions of the state, carrying out its activities in the field of social responsibility in the areas most relevant for the society development. Based on the results of the calculation of the ratio of territorial concentration / diversification, it is confirmed that the cult infrastructure of the RCCF (parishes) is evenly distributed throughout the country, which creates an opportunity for everyone to take part in religious ceremonies and events not related to cult activity, and for those in need - to use numerous resources, offered at the parishes of the RCCF. Research results can be used by government and public authorities while developing and implementing measures related to church-state relations.

The implementation of the tourism social function is strategic goal in the Russian tourism market development. The authors analyze the state of social tourism based on statistical government materials, as well as their own research using the example of the Russian Federation and Krasnoyarsk Krai. Health tourism currently is most developed in the Russian Federation, and due to the deteriorating health of the population, it becomes especially relevant and popular among supporters of a healthy lifestyle. The study presents the main indicators of health tourism in the Russian Federation and Krasnoyarsk Territory. The children's health camps of country, sanatorium and resort types, labor and recreation camps are the most popular form of organizing child summer recreation. The study presents the main indicators of organizations for child recreation and recovery in the Russian Federation and the Krasnoyarsk Krai.

The article discusses the socio-cultural significance of the winemaking in Southern Europe as a resource for the development of enotourism (wine tourism). The diverse socio-cultural experience of the modern winemakers in the region reflects the connection between past and present, between economy, culture and society. Even in the era of post-globalism, there are opportunities for the preservation and enhancement of tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Natural wine, used for centuries in the Christian church and accompanying the important life events, unites various groups of society, giving the opportunity for harmonious self-realization and socio-cultural tolerance, but only under the condition of constant comprehension: oneself, the national history, and, finally, the cultural and civilizational heritage of different countries. Vineyards and objects of tangible cultural heritage associated with winemaking have received the status of heritage in many countries of Southern Europe, and the culture of winemaking has the state support. National traditions of the winemaking are considered in connection with various types of art - music and fashion, as well as with the effective practices of museum business, advertising and PR. The authors give the examples of interaction between wineries and the museum community and note the successful tourist routes and wine festivals. The authors emphasize the importance of the experience of South European winemaking and enotourism in the creative interaction of traditions and innovations for the southern regions of modern Russia. The long-term practice of outstanding masters of Mediterranean winemaking, based on historical traditions, is an effective marketing strategy.

The studies on the analysis of tourism public policies in the Amazon and in Brazil focus on its implementation, impasses and/or results, but their formulation process as well as the characters involved on those are still approached in an incipient way. This paper presents results of a research on tourism public policy in the Brazilian Amazon. The research aimed at understanding how tourism is addressed and how it is in the agendas of the municipalities of Belém and Bragança governments, in the state of Pará. The Multiple Streams Model was used as a theoretical and methodological reference. The empirical evidence is based on bibliographic and documentary reviews and semi-structured interviews with employees of the tourism management agencies of the municipalities. The results show that tourism public policies are materialized in the Belém Tourism Program 14 (PTB14) and in Bragança Municipal Tourism Plan (PMT-Bragança). Moreover, in these municipalities there is the Municipal Tourism Council; in which the Council of Belém acted in the process of formulating the PTB14; whereas the Council of Bragança did not participate in the formulation of the PMT-Bragança hence the tourist trade representatives of the municipality did, but individually. It is concluded therefore that the analysis model used it, in both municipalities, there are factors that influenced the multiple streams of the process of formulating tourism public policy; however, it was possible to fully identify only those that affected the stream of public policy. In addition to that, the way in which tourism is conceived and disseminated has led it to be risen to a prominent position in the decision agenda of the municipalities of Belém and Bragança.

The subject of the research includes features of demonstration and influence of the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) on social and economic processes in the Philippines. The purpose of the research is elicitation of country's predominant religious institution’s role in the functioning of the social sphere and some sectors of the economy through the example of the Roman Catholic Church of Philippines. Research hypothesis: the model of the Philippines confessional space functioning, where the history of Catholicism spread is exactly 500 years, is unique for the Asia-Pacific region, and the RCC significantly affects not only the culture and mentality of the population, but also the socio-economic sphere, providing a significant portion of needs for social infrastructure. Aspects of the influence of the RCC of the Philippines on certain sectors of the economy are considered in detail: in particular, on the development of religious tourism of an excursion and educational orientation. Based on the analysis of the reporting data of nonprofit Catholic organizations and other official statistical information, as well as the results of in-depth interviews with representatives of the RCC of the Philippines, the main features of the implementation of the religious Institute in the country are identified.

In Brazil, after the Federal Constitution of 1988, with the redemocratization process, municipal councils, including those of tourism, promote social participation in decisions about public policies. Thus, this work aims to analyze the institutionalization of voice in the legal norms and in the development of the activities of municipal tourism councils of state capitals of Brazil and the Federal District. It was identified that interaction in municipal tourism councils is characterized by the predominant presence of business associations and the public sector. With regard to policy formulation, the councils show a certain passivity, leaving the public sector in charge. There is little debate about plan evaluation and ways to improve implemented actions. The councils' debates revolve, above all, around infrastructure and event promotion actions to improve the destination's economic competitiveness. It was also found a low average participation in the meetings of representatives of the Legislative Branch and other bodies of the Executive Branch, despite the legal provision. We conclude that the use of a more active voice can be achieved with the recognition, by the councilors, of the COMTURs' function as spaces to use their voices and to influence the directions of tourism policies. And Hirschman's (1973) approach on the choices between voice, exit and loyalty, although still little used among researchers in the field, allows us to advance in the understanding of tourism public policies.

From the geological perspective, the Anthropocene is considered the current geological epoch, replacing the Holocene, positioning humanity as a force that has substantially interfered on life on the planet. Nevertheless, from the perspective of environmental history, critical researchers believe that the most appropriate is the idea of Capitalocene, since the current environmental crisis is the result of the capitalist model of production and consumption. In the field of tourism, the theme of climate change has been increasingly disseminated and addressed in national and international publications, however, the Anthropocene or the Capitalocene are still little explored, even though tourism activities can be seen as one of the mechanisms used for capital reproduction. In this way, the article mapped the state of the art on the Anthropocene or the Capitalocene and tourism. Research has shown that, after 2014, some scholars have looked into the relationship between tourism and the Anthropocene. However, research is still incipient, focusing on some specific topics. The idea of Capitalocene is even less addressed, with a few researchers taking ownership of research in the field of tourism. Thus, there is a gap between research and the teaching of tourism itself, especially when it comes to more critical research, placing tourism as a key activity in the context of the experienced environmental crisis.

This article explores the potential of gastronomic festivals in Udmurtia. The current crisis in the tourism industry caused by the pandemic can be used as a point of growth for domestic event tourism. For regions that do not have the opportunity to enjoy a long holiday season due to their geographical position, a gastronomic festival may be a good option of a weekend break full of cultural experience. Despite a good choice of event-based gastronomic festivals in Udmurtia, residents and guests of the capital seem to know very little about them. The most famous "World Dumpling Day" festival held in Udmurtia since 2015 has become a brand, and yet, is not a full-fledged tourist product. The venue has been the same for 5 years, the festival events can't boast of a great variety either. The festival program is released late, which doesn't help travel companies to sell this event to tourists. As a result the interest and number of visitors drops every year, which is confirmed by the media content analysis. Over the past two (2018/2019) years, the number of positive reviews has also decreased significantly. A change of location and proper event promotion can revive the festival and make it a point of attraction for residents and guests of the capital alike. To determine the tourist opportunities of gastronomic festivals in the region, a face-to-face, individual, one-step expert survey was conducted. The survey respondents mentioned that not all gastronomic festivals in the region might have the potential for growth - it may make more sense to define two or three most interesting products and promote them. A pilot online questionnaire survey conducted among residents of Russian regions brought up a low level of awareness across country's residents about their resource potential, as well as lack of professional regional gastronomic brands promotion.

Давно замечено, что туризм является быстро меняющейся сферой экономики. Это относится как к видам туризма, так и к туристским направлениям. В этом контексте объективно возникает проблема достоверной и полной информационной обеспеченности туристов и путешественников в отношении как традиционных туристских стран, так и новых мест. На наш взгляд, исходя из практики большинства туристских стран с развитой экономикой, таким ресурсом может послужить геопортал, посвященный туристской тематике. Подобный ресурс будет иметь многостороннее значение. С одной стороны, геопортал может визуализировать результаты исследования туристского потенциала территории и представлять базу для дальнейших научных и образовательных работ, с другой - предоставит возможность для туристов понять различия и особенности дестинации, а для инвесторов - выбирать перспективные направления для развития. В данной работе приведён пример геопортала по туристской тематике, созданного автором с помощью геоинформационных систем. Одной из важных отличительных особенностей геопортала является учёт местных различий, поскольку любое место имеет свою уникальность. Для Республики Армения (РА), как для страны с развивающейся туристской отраслью, такой ресурс будет полезен и необходим. Основными особенностями туристского потенциала РА является горный рельеф и проживание людей на этой территории долгое историческое время. Геопортал даст возможность продемонстрировать туристам не только популярные аттрактивные, но и иные объекты, которые могут представлять туристский интерес. Это позволит снизить туристскую загруженность некоторых популярных дестинаций, а также развивать туризм в новых частях страны.

Tourism promotional videos are essential elements for attraction and seduction; they are trigger elements to tourists. This solution for web marketing engages and convinces potential tourists to book a tourism product. Embedding video materials into a website provides useful information, creates different feelings in viewers, and helps them finalize their decisions. The present article discusses video solutions for health tourism websites used to allure potential tourists. It reviews the influential elements of persuasive tourism marketing videos. The article highlights how these components as persuasive strategies of tourism promotional materials can influence the decisions of tourism websites’ users. The result section provides the real examples of deployment of the mentioned technique to convince the audience of the website of the “Karpaty” resort (Ukraine). This technique is worth attention as it plays an important role in the promotion of tourism services. The data collection of this study will provide updated information in relation to the rhetoric of tourism.

The research is focused on the technique of determining the evaluation criteria for "Mystery guest" method. The author makes a hypothesis that standard models of criteria scaling does not reflect fully the level of quality and its compliance to inquiries of consumers. For creating more objective model of quality assessment the experiment on developing criteria in various weight coefficient has been made. The research applies the econometric models of determination of weight coefficients and the accomplishes the comparative analysis of results. Following the results, the hypothesis has been confirmed. Obvious divergences have been found in assessment with standard model, and new technique of creation more relevant calculation of indicators has been developed. The author has applied a technique of giving different points to "Mystery guest" quality indicators in hotel. That has provided more exact results of assessment of service quality level. The scope of results is quite extensive the developed model can be applied to quality assessment in different hotels, without being limited to a certain level or specifics of hotel. Depending on a wide range of tasks, we have a possibility to use various criteria, which will precisely reflect inquiries of consumers in service quality, and respectively to increase competitiveness of the hotel enterprise. The received results open an opportunity for a further research of assessment techniques in hotel quality management and applications of various models of criteria scaling. The research can be useful to management of hotels in the field of quality management.

Понятие «гендер» интерпретируется как антропологическое с 50-х годов прошлого века. «Гендер» отражает сегодня одну из важнейших составляющих процесса глобализации человечества, а именно переосмысление и перераспределение социальных ролей в эпоху технического прогресса, расцвета информационных технологий, практически безграничных возможностей для самореализации личности вне зависимости от ее половой принадлежности. «Гендерные исследования» имеют научные основы и социально-экономический контекст, их возникновение связано, с одной стороны, с определенным уровнем развития смежных наук гуманитарного ряда, а также с уровнем развития человеческого общества, способного осознать ценность личности вне зависимости от половой принадлежности индивида.

Статья посвящена изучению проблемы современного состояния и перспектив развития туристического волонтёрства и волонтёрского туризма. В исследовании раскрыто соотношение понятий «волонтёрство», «туристическое волонтёрство» и «волонтёрский туризм»; дана краткая историческая справка по развитию волонтёрства и волонтёрского туризма; приведены примеры классического туристического волонтёрского движения (участие волонтёров в Олимпийских играх в Китае, программы организации World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms, проекты Hampton Save-A-Landmark, Turtle Teams, Conservation Volunteers, Appalachian Trail Conference, Проводники в HF Holidays, Help Exchange, Добровольцы ООН, Move Nepal и другие) и туров в рамках волонтёрского туризма (международные экологические экспедиции в Коста-Рику, на озеро Байкал, гору Эверест, тропу Инков, программы организаций The China Conservation and Research Centre for the Giant Panda, Inti Wara Yassi, Earthwatch Institute). Также сформулировано принципиальное различие между этими двумя разными по форме и принципам организации типами волонтёрского движения. В публикации охарактеризовано современное состояние и перспективы развития туристического волонтёрства в России, в том числе акцент сделан на деятельности Центров по подготовке волонтёров, Региональных центров развития туризма, Ассоциации волонтёрских центров, Волонтёрского туристского центра города Москвы. Представлены реализуемые на территории Российской Федерации актуальные туристические программы и проекты: событийные (спортивные), музейные («Клуб Друзей Эрмитажа», акции Государственного Дарвиновского музея, Политехнического музея, Государственного музея истории ГУЛАГа), археологические (проекты Восточно-Боспорской археологической экспедиции РАН и фонда «Археология»), экологические («Большая Байкальская Тропа» и многие другие). В завершение составлен перечень рекомендаций по развитию и поддержке туристического добровольчества и волонтёрского туризма на территории Российской Федерации.
