Within the context of the geopolitical concept of Russian Slavicist Vladimir Lamanskiy «Rusyn issue» is a part of the Eastern Question as a question about the importance of understanding the cultural and historical boundaries between the world of Romano-Germanic Europe and Russia as a main representative of the Greek-Slavic world. Since this border, according to V Lamanskiy, exists in the form of «east, Transcarpathian and Transdanubian Greco-Slavic Europe», then for Russia «Rusyn issue» or «the problem of the Carpathians» turn out to be a matter of saving its western suburbs in the situation when it cannot drag them into its administrative borders.
