Hostels: their role in and contribution to improving a tourist destination’s image (case study: Moscow)

The article takes a retrospective view of the development of hostels and considers the current trends, as well as development opportunities and challenges, of this segment of economical means of accommodation. The author draws upon statistics to substantiate the expediency of further development of this kind of accommodation as a contributor to improved tourist traffic.
