Graffiti drawings of Jesus Christ as high priest from the St. Sophia cathedral in Novgorod

The paper examines two graffiti drawings depicting a rare iconographie motifof Jesus Christ as High priest. The first drawing was not determined correctly in the initialpublication. The recent discovery of the same iconographic motif on the external wallof the cathedral and presence of an acompanying inscription helped determine and dateboth scenes and link them to construction and consecration of the St. Sophia Cathedral.Availability of these two surviving drawings, one of which was made with excellentworkmanship, implies that this image was quite popular, which may potentially mean thatthis motif was present in the St. Sophia Cathedral.
