Radiocarbon and dendrochronological dating of the red background icon of St. Nicholas of Myra with scenes from his life

The Russian icon of St. Nicholas of Myra with scenes from his life has beendated by radiocarbon accelerated mass spectrometry (AMS) and dendrochronologicalmethods. The dendrochronological date of the outer ring of the icon board is 1488 AD(medium statistical reliability). The AMS wiggle-matching modeled date for this ringis 1488-1496 (1σ, 68,2%). Previously this icon was dated according to art attribution(the first half of the 15th century) and according to chemical-technological analysis (early15th century).
