The article deals with the pedagogical aspects in the formation of foreign language competence of students of higher schools and reveals the common mistakes made by them during tests. It will analyses the different points of view on the essence and content of grammatical competence considering the opportunities of implicit and explicit approaches to teaching students a foreign language and highlighting the positive and negative aspects in the methods of their implementation.
