The article is devoted to the problems of artificial intelligence (AI) in the context of personality theology. In line with the patristic tradition, the author conducts a comparative analysis of the functions and capabilities of the human mind as the highest part of nature, belonging to the individual, and AI, as a phenomenon of technical progress. The author believes that a human personality, irreducible to his body and soul, but at the same time containing and surpassing them, cannot be artificially modeled using arbitrarily subtle, but always natural schemes. AI in the theological sense is hypostatic and incapable of hypostatic union with another intellect or with a person. AI lacks consciousness and basic personality traits - sacrifice, responsibility, freedom - and is unable to produce emotional life, compassion and prayer. Opening to a person his high vocation for deification, the theology of personality calls on us not to be deceived by the illusions of modern technical achievements but rather to soberly use them while realizing the dangers of introducing complex machines into life. Among those are a weakening of the volitional component, an increase in the desire for comfort and power, early dementia, the loss of true personality traits and higher meanings of being, the development of totalitarianism and caste. The author argues that humanity can and must, relying on Christian anthropology, determine the vectors of adequate use of high achievements of progress, including AI, for the benefit, and not to the detriment of humanity.
