Political and ideological work among demobilized soldiers to settle the Soviet Far East in the early 1930's

The article discusses political and ideological work of Soviet government aimed at attracting demobilized soldiers for the settlement of the Far East of the USSR to strengthen the region in socio-economic and military-political aspect in the prewar period. The author analyzes the causes and main directions of this campaign and identifies its successes and shortcomings basing on the opinions of the settlers, government and long-time residents of the region.
