Writing about the life and works of the holy martyr Platon, Bishop of Revel, the biographers noted the fact that he graduated from the Riga Theological College and Riga Theological Seminary, entered 1890 on the state maintenance at the St. Petersburg Theological Academy and graduated 1894 with the degree the candidate of theology. In addition to the general information sometimes is given a small excerpt of an evaluative character from the commentary by Professor I. E. Troitsky on the candidate's work by Pavel Kulbush. Pavel Kulbush's studying at the Academy, which largely shaped him as a person, was not explored and, like the attitude of other students of the Academy, who became large historical figures, was not posed as a problem in historical science.
