The adaptation features of patients suffering from paranoid schizophrenia and taking neuroleptics as medication with risk of development of the metabolic syndrome (with changed lipid metabolism indicators of blood serum)

The article presents the adaptation features of patients suffering from paranoid schizophrenia and taking typical and atypical antipsychotics as medication. According to preliminary data of the research being carried out, it was revealed that although the patients taking atypical antipsychotics develop a more favorable type of adaptation than the patients taking haloperidol, the atypical antipsychotics intake can cause the developing of the metabolic syndrome and as a consequence can form a somatic pathology. As a result of the research being carried out the clinical and social risk factors of the somatic pathology development were revealed. In the article a medical case of a patient suffering from paranoid schizophrenia is provided, which illustrates theoretical data obtained during the research
