This publication is part of an original study aimed at developing a methodology for assessing the effectiveness of treatment and rehabilitation work with mental patients who have committed socially dangerous acts. Objective: to determine the potential for the use of psychological techniques to assess the effectiveness of treatment and rehabilitation work with mental patients who have committed socially dangerous actions. Materials and Methods. The observational descriptive study includes 87 respondents aged 18-65. Two groups of patients are formed: those who have been admitted for compulsory treatment (CT) to a psychiatric hospital (group 1; n=47) and those to be discharged with the decision of the medical commission to terminate the inpatient CT due to a decrease in social danger (group 2; n=40). We have used psychodiagnostic techniques aimed at assessing the dynamics of individual psychological characteristics of persons with mental disorders, contributing to or preventing socially dangerous behavior. Conclusion. The use of psychodiagnostic techniques shows the presence of positive dynamics of psychological risk factors for the social danger of patients during the period of execution of compulsory medical measures. There is an increase in emotional-volitional regulation, leveling of need-motivational distortions, improvement of personality-adaptive characteristics, moral and ethical attitudes and personality-meaning sphere while maintaining pathological personality characteristics of the type of personality immaturity, disturbance of the adequacy of ideas about the surrounding reality and inability to conscious goal setting. Based on the results of the analysis of the individual characteristics of patients in comparison with the criteria of personal risk factors, separate variables are identified that are significant for understanding the prognostic model and assessing the likelihood of social danger, as well as the effectiveness of treatment and rehabilitation measures. The conducted research testifies to the informativeness of experimental psychological techniques (a shortened multifactorial questionnaire for personality research, S. Rosenzweig's method of drawing frustration, R. Lazarus' coping behavior strategy) to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of compulsory medical measures
