Overview of collective investment institutions

The article presents a definition of collective investment institutions, their types, in accordance with international practice. Joint-stock, mutual funds, credit unions, the general funds of Bank management, insurance companies, private pension funds and their main characteristics are considered. The author carried out a comparative analysis of mutual funds and the general funds of Bank management in Russia. The reasons for low popularity of collective investment are highlighted. A possible solution to this problem is offered.
