The aim of the study is to analyze the cognitive and semiotic development of imaginable and axiological parameters (characteristics) of the concept sphere of land that are assimilated by the representatives of contemporary British ethnicity, and their reflection in the mentality of the ethnic society. The study is aimed at identifying these characteristics of the investigated concept sphere by using the associative experimental techniques of questioning informants of British origin native residents of the UK, whose origin is a true Anglo-Saxon. The reflections received from informants enabled to represent the concept sphere of land as an agricultural object, the object of work, institutional object, the object of entertainment, the object of aesthetic perception, the object of pragmatic use (object of lease, sale, economic profit extraction). The axiological characteristics were identified: firstly, by linguosemiotic analysis of the linguistic resources which are accumulated in the mental and linguistic fund of an English-speaking ethnic group, keeping in memory the language signs indicating the axiological potential of the sphere; secondly, by means of informants answers to the questionnaire on the evaluation of proverbs. The axiological and cognitive reflection of the concept sphere of land was recorded through the evaluation of epithets, stylistically marked as positive adjectives; evaluative statements semanticizing the state of delight or satisfaction; phraseological units with a positive connotation; paremias.
