The article is dedicated to the analysis of functions of the image of water in Pasternak’s early poem Fevral’. Dostat’ chernil i plakat’, Povest’ and Doctor Zhivago. Such an interpretation is explained by the fact that both Povest’ and Doctor Zhivago have scenes in which the image of water acts as a central one. Stressing its importance in Pasternak’s creative work, the author of the article makes a conclusion that water as a classical element plays here a dual role symbolizing both creative activity and changes in relationships between the heroes.
