Moral foundations of client-attorney privilege

Purpose: Research of client-attorney privilege as an ethical problem of public and personal duty and conscience, as well as the personal ideas of morality. Methodology: Formal-legal and historical approaches, as well as comparative analysis method, were used in this article. Results: The author analyzes how the categories of general ethics correspond to the categories of professional ethics of an attorney, and the actions that attorney should perform if he gets into a difficult ethical situation and appears before the choice: to keep sacredly the secret that was entrusted to him, or to disclose it. Novelty/originality/value: The importance and value of this article lay in its modern-day analysis of categories of general ethics acting as the categories of professional ethics of an attorney.
