The acute issue of improvement a cross-cultural competence as a significant component of Olympic Volunteers'' foreign language communicative competence is raised in the article. The background of successful foreign language communicative interaction is a phenomenon of sociocultural knowledge and strategies of politeness which stipulate an adequate communication with guests of major international sport competitions.
