Objective: To study the problems of international legal regulation of investment cooperation between the European Union and third countries. Methodology: In the course of work on the article were used logical, comparative legal methods. Results: International investment cooperation between the European Union and third countries is exacerbated by a number of factors. First of all, we are talking about a major shift in the structure of economic relations between the center and outlying economies. The Lisbon Treaty introduces foreign direct investment in the range of issues where the EU is given the competence under the Common Trade Policy under the new Article 207 of the Lisbon Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU). Article 56 provides for the liberalization of the movement of capital to and from third countries, including the movement of capital relating to foreign investments. Novelty/originality/value: Article possesses the high scientific value as is one of the first attempts to consider different international legal models of investment legal relationship of the European Union with the third countries.
