The author of the review on the book “A.P. Chekhov’s Personal Library. Selected works” (2017) tells about the three-stepped project which is a description of A.P. Chekhov’s personal library in Taganrog State Literary museum. Its first part is a presentation album; there one can find photos of some books from writer’s library, his contemporaries’ autographs. Books from personal library with those unique dedicatory inscriptions expand and complete Chekhov’s image as a person, man of letters, and help to know his company better. These photos are accompanied with biographic, historical and literary comments. For the album they chose books which reflected the writer’s broad interests, his connections with other writers, his family history, and books of his outstanding but unpopular contemporaries. Several books from personal library in Yalta were also included in the edition. Album reflects library’s content, circumstances of its formation and replenishment, it is a valuable source for those who want to study and to specify facts about Chekhov’s biography and works, his literary connections and world outlook of the period. It is noticed that the album reflects modern tendencies in terms of visualization of museum materials and literary collections, which have educational and scientific goals, increases book’s attractiveness as a museum item, and give a broad auditory an access to museum collections. The author emphasizes that this book is innovative and important both for scientists and mass readers.
