В статье представлен критический обзор подходов к исследованию метафоры в различных научных традициях. Показаны преимущества междисциплинарных методов, применяемых при анализе метафоры и способствовавших созданию корпусов и баз данных метафор. Охарактеризованы репозитории метафор английского, французского и немецкого языков. Выявлены проблемы выбора надежных методов и процедур идентификации и анализа метафор в современной лингвистике. Описаны достоинства методологии анализа, апробированной в калифорнийском университете (Беркли, США), и обосновано ее применение для анализа русских политических метафор в сопоставлении с английскими. На примере метафор управления продемонстрирован экспланаторный потенциал интегративного подхода, сочетающего нисходящие и восходящие методы идентификации и анализа метафор в рамках одного репозитория. В статье представлена процедура глубинного многоступенчатого семантического анализа метафоры и описана формальная реализация концепции нейронных каскадов применительно к анализу метафор. Автором выявлены и классифицированы проблемы, которые возникают в процессе создания кросслингвистического англо-русского репозитория метафор политического дискурса. Намечены перспективы предлагаемого интегративного подхода при определении взаимосвязанных концептуальных сетей, представлении метафоры на разных уровнях специфичности и сложности и создании мультимодальной модели метафорического мышления.
