Criminological characteristics of property crime in the Russian Federation

The article examines the main characteristics of property crime in modern Russia. The author of the article notes that, despite the state's serious efforts in the fight against property crimes, many of them still remain undisclosed and form a base of recurrent and latent crime. At present, the overwhelming majority of the total numbers of property crimes committed are thefts. The author emphasizes that among property crimes street plunderings represent a special danger to the public. No less serious danger is represented by robbery, the majority of which is committed in parks and squares, in parking lots. In recent years, the level of fraudulent encroachments in Russia has been increasing significantly, fraud is increasingly committed in large and particularly large amounts and by groups of individuals with prior conspiracy. Victims of extortionists are most often subjected to extremely cruel methods of influence so that criminals can illegally obtaining property.
