The concept of traditional and modernizing political development of modern China in Russian sinology

The article considers how Russian sinologists view the problem of interaction of traditional and modernizing aspects in the political development of modem China, focusing on their methodological and theoretical grounds. The author classifies and analyzes the main theoretical approaches to the study of Chinese political traditions in Soviet and post-Soviet historiography.
