Pierre Nora’s concept of "sites of memory" as a method of historical reconstruction

The article considers the concept of «sites of memory» of the French historian Pierre Nora. The author argues that the method of historical reconstruction developed by P. Nora allows us to look at many facts of the past in a different way, to clear them of mythologization and excessive politicization, and to rethink the problems of collective memory, the role of the individual in history and the significance of historical events in its existence.
