Key aspects of integrated approach to unification of mediation terminology

The article discusses some aspects of an integrated approach to the study of Russian mediation terminology, describes peculiarities of using terms in mediation, and determines the stages of unification of terms and concepts in the frame of a national language. The paper identifies main obstacles that hamper standardization of mediation terms and clarifies the criteria for constructing a multi-aspect classification of special units of a given sphere. The author attempts to mark the boundaries of the mediation subject area and to separate the terminology of mediation from the terms used in similar procedures aimed at alternative dispute resolution. The work also suggests that a cross-system approach to the analysis of mediation terms borrowed from the English language should be applied when specialists deal with the terms that do not have Russian equivalents.
