The article studies the role and tasks of scientific-practical journals on discussion of the results of scientific research on a wide range of problems in the spheres of modern economic theory, actual economic politics and economic practice. In this connection the author highlights the mission of Science Journal of Volgograd State University. Global Economic System; presents the inspirers and active participants who made great contribution to the creation and development of this journal. The author also describes the main sections and headings of the journal. Characterized by a long history, today the journal reached high scientometrical indices the dynamics of which is illustrated in the present article.
