The use of the situational method in physical training to develop speed and strength qualities of law enforcement officers

The study was conducted with the purpose of revealing the effective use of the situational method in physical training of law enforcement officers for the development of their speed and strength qualities. The study involved students attending the Tyumen Advanced Training Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the period from January to April 2017. The total number of respondents was 16 trainees, men of the first age group. The subjects were divided into two groups: a control group and an experimental group of 8 people each. To achieve the goal of the study a set of typical situations of pursuing the offender and overcoming various obstacles was developed. The study was conducted on the basis of the Tyumen Advanced Training Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. To solve the tasks the following pedagogical methods of research were used: analysis and summarising of scientific and educational literature; testing; pedagogical experiment; methods of mathematical statistics. In the experimental group the situational method was used. The results of the research revealed that the rates of development of speed and strength qualities in the experimental group increased by an average of 7.5% more than in the control group. The use of the situational method in classes on physical training organized for law enforcement officers contributes to the improvement of their speed and strength qualities.
