Use of some somatometric indices in sport selection of table tennis

Investigation results of some young sportsmens somatometric indices, who go in for table tennis in educational and training groups of three sport schools of Krasnodar region, are given in the article. Statistical processing of received indices allowed establishing their true interrelation with the level of technical readiness of sportsmen. This fact reveals that peculiarities of sportsmens constitution influences greatly on the ability of mastering table tennis technique. Comparative analysis of the level of technical readiness between different groups of young tennis players, belonging to different types of constitution, having different body proportions and various biological development, shows that sportsmen of microsomatotype of constitution and micromembral type of proportions concede to young sportsmen of meso- and macrosomatotypes of constitution and membral type of proportions in pace of mastering table tennis technique. Especially this tendency predominates among girls.
