Islamic historical and cultural heritage in Western Siberia

The issues related to the peculiarities of the history of Islam in Western Siberia are considered in the article. Materials describing the phenomenon of the book culture of Muslims in Western Siberia, the traditions of creating and ritual use of local Islamic religious texts are presented here. The actualization and "discovery" of sacred places, the strengthening of the role of religious elites, the sacralization of handwritten and old printed religious books are considered as factors of the formation of Islamic religious identity and important elements of historical and cultural heritage created and preserved by many generations of Muslims in Siberia.
