Indicators of innovation in the economy

The article explores the current problems of the range of indicators of innovation, as one of the most soughtafter areas of identification of comparative development of economies, such as the economy of the Russian Federation and other countries of the world, with the aim to elaborate comprehensive proposals for developing the elements of strategic national innovation policy, setting the tasks of publicprivate partnership in the management of business innovation. The object of the study is the process of forming modern indicators of innovation. The subject of the study is the theoretic and methodological and practical basis for ensuring the development of a range of indicators of innovation in the economy. According to our analysis, the main factors holding back the innovation activities of Russian companies (in general for all enterprises without grouping) in 2016, according to the estimates of business leaders, are the lack of own funds, insolvency of customers, as well as unfavorable conditions of investment and lending. These same factors played a major role in curbing the innovation of Russian enterprises in 20172019. Using scientific methods of comparison and generalization when considering the characteristics of enterprises engaged in innovation in Europe, the United States and Japan, we have found that a complete picture of the level of innovation in the country cannot be drawn up, considering indicators such as the number of patents or published articles, as innovation is determined by a variety of factors. The degree of importance of some of them depends on the archetype of the industry. For example, the success of scientific innovation is largely determined by the level of research and development costs, while for consumer innovation is much more important the availability of large consumer markets or the speed of introduction and distribution. In our opinion, an important direction for further practical development of the range of indicators of innovative activity of enterprises in the economy is a modification of the approach to innovation management, which involves the introduction of portfolio management innovative projects and research, taking into account the development of priority areas, which is why the development of the new competencies.
