Idiomatization as a way of compressing information

Idiomatization of word-combinations and phrases leads to compression in the plane of content and in the plane of expression, i.e. semantic integrity and regression of the language units from the higher level to the lower level (both structural and functional). Thus idiomatization is viewed as way of compressing information.
