Christianity and Confucianism in East Asia: the problem of dialogue

The article is devoted to the analysis of the reception of Christianity in East Asia as the civilization problems. The purpose of our study is to identify the problems in the dialogue between Christianity and Confucianism, taking into account the socio-historical contexts. In that context the West Christian missionaries operated in the countries of East Asia. The work is based on the using of a comparative historical method of research, which made it possible to compare the activities of the missionaries of Western European states in the countries of the East Asian region (China, Korea, Japan and Mongolia), taking into consideration the difficulties of the Christian-Confucian dialogue in general. The “meeting” of Confucianism and Christianity is presented as the “challenge” of Christian preachers to East Asian traditional religions and the “response” of East Asia peoples to it.
