Purpose: Research the principle of publicity as a constituent element of the system of the principles of advocacy. Methodology: The authors applied comparative legal method and formal legal method. Results: In the article the question of legal fixing of the principle of publicity of the organization and activity of the advocacy is considered and problems of its realization are researched, the concept of the principle of publicity and its backgrounds are formulated, the proportion of accessible and transparent information about the advocacy and law secret is analyzed. Novelty/originality/value: Article has a certain scientific and practical value.
