For today the principles of continuous environmental education in all educational organizations of the country are actively developing and improving. This trend forms an understanding of continuous ecological connections within natural, social, and integrated natural-social systems in students of different ages. The article reveals the need to develop a system of giving the knowledge as close as possible to the realities of nature. In modern teaching of environmental disciplines, there is a tendency to narrow the understanding of natural processes and interrelations in ecology to narrowly focused ecological-recreational or ecological-biological educational programs. In order to overcome this contradiction, the article discusses the features of the ecosystem and geosystem approaches in continuous environmental education. Through the example of the summer school conducted in the settlement of Bolshoe Goloustnoe (Irkutsk Region), the methods of teaching schoolchildren from the position of the geosystem approach are presented. This approach allows step by step exploring the natural system, starting with the consideration of each of its components separately, and ending with the modeling of the dynamics and evolution of the entire geosystem.
