The following findings have been compiled through a comparative clinical study of 462 alcohol addicts over 60 of both genders. Based on the analysis of such indicators as family history of substance abuse, coexisting somatic and neurological pathology, prevalence rates of hospitalized patients by severity, progression, and diversity of clinical manifestations of the disease, some gender-specific biomedical factors affecting the onset of alcoholism in this type of patients have been established. Alcohol abuse prevention targets among the elderly have also been developed.
