Introduction. Syllabuses on informational disciplines at educational organizations of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs make up the object of the research. The subject-matter of the study is their consistency (connection) with similar programmes of general secondary education and syllabuses of other disciplines included into general educational programmes of higher law professional education. Materials and Methods. 162 first-year students were questioned, Federal Educational Standards of general secondary education and higher professional education were estimated, the content of the coursebooks used in the learning process at a secondary school and higher educational institutions was compared. Results and Discussion. The data of the first-year students' questioning showed a relatively high level of training modern applicants in the basics of Information Technologies and almost no knowledge of elements of programming. Comparison of the Federal Educational Standards of general secondary education and higher professional education in law specialization and areas proves their duplication in a significant part. Conclusions. The authors made the conclusion that it is possible to redistribute the number of hours for law specialties in the syllabuses, especially classroom hours, designated for informatics for special education subjects where it is necessary to employ special software more widely. The authors underline that it is essential to study such subjects as Information Law and reconsider the wording of informational competences.
