Business game as an active form of training district police officers

Introduction. Complicated and multifaceted character of legal administrative, preventive and detective work of district police officers determines the necessity to enhance practical forms of learning. The modern means of building competences in the course of teaching the subject “Organization of district police officer’s activity” imply not only acquiring knowledge and abilities but also developing skills. In this regard the focus must be made on such active methods of material delivery as business games, which will facilitate the realization of the mentioned tasks maximally oriented to practice. Materials and methods. The researcher used theoretical materials in the theory and methods of professional education, provisions developed by individual authors when studying active methods of education. The research is based on methods of pedagogical observation, interviewing, questioning, method of expert assessment conducted with 30 young teachers who have studied at the Teacher’s Proficiency School of the Barnaul Law Institute of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. Results and Discussion. The author gives arguments for psychopedagogical relevance and necessary implementation of the mentioned forms of studies basing on the hypothesis that district police officers’ activity in counteracting criminality and antisocial phenomena requires, as a rule, complex and systematic approach. Primarily, it is determined by the necessity to form the learners’ skills in qualified work with police and procedural documentation; secondly, by cultivating high level of communicability, organization and self-discipline, responsibility and volitional abilities. The paper explains psychopedagogical features of organizing studies in this form and contains appropriate recommendations. Conclusions. At the lesson devoted to the theme “District police officer’s observing the population and objects of the administrative district” an imitation business game combined with the elements of operational game is employed. During the game the learners imitate district police officers’ examining the peculiarities of the beat, familiarizing with the objects located in the administrative district, conducting prophylactic interviews with citizens. This enables the learners to acquire professional skills in making plans of prophylactic events (both for one day and for a longer period) and other documents involved in their functional responsibilities.
