The activities of rural cultural and educational institutions in Primorye, 1923-1925

The article deals with the main activities of village libraries and reading rooms of Primorye during early 1920s, when a significant cultural shift was observed in the rural areas. At this period of time, village libraries and reading rooms were seen by central and local authorities as the main points of political and educational influence on the rural population, however, as the author notes, there were a number of factors that significantly hampered the political and educational work of these institutions.
