Bioecological peculiarities of water chestnut (Trapa natans L., Trapaceae) in the basin of Middle Don (Volgograd region)

The investigation results of biology and ecology of water chestnut in the basin of Middle Don within Volgograd region are described. The information on morphology of reproductive bions and their special organization are presented. The results of investigation of potential and real seed productivity explain observed violent fluctuations of population size of this plant.
