The article attempts at understanding if The Poems of Doctor Zhivago may be considered a lyrical cycle, and the connection of the poems with the text of the novel is revealed. It is proposed to use the outer, the reader’s and inner, the novel points of view, because it is possible to discover certain peculiarities of the cycle only due to their comparison. Such a comparison leads to conclusions on whether The Poems are the author’s lyrical cycle and whether the artistic integrity of the cycle depends on the perceiving consciousness (the reader of the novel and its hero).
