Ataractic motivation of substance use among young people

One of the leading trends of modern narcological situation is the increase of the ataractic motivation's proportion of psychoactive substances using. To a large extent it is shown for drugs and tobacco, and less for alcohol. Pathopsychological basis for ataractic substances using appears the irrational cognition of low frustration tolerance and non-adaptive coping style with low ability to resolve problems actively; to distract from problems to any of the activities (favorite activity, hobby); to interact productively with microsocial environment in difficult situations. Availability of ataractic motivation is accompanied by anxiety and depressive symptoms that must be considered during interventions.
