The paper presents preliminary results of studying faunal remains from twounique multi-layer geoarchaeological sites, namely, Zamostye 5 and Minino 2, locatedin Zabolotsky peat-bog in the Center of the Russian Plain. It has been noted that thepreservation conditions of animal bones and artifacts made from such bones depended, primarily, on inundation of occupation layers and the entire sequence of occupationinterlayers as well as their chemical composition. Speed and nature of sedimentation ofbeddings (aqueous or upland deposits), the activity level and duration of taphonomizationprocesses (archaeologization) of materials these layers contain play a similarly importantrole. And, finally, the composition of the items made from organic materials was directlydependent on function stress of specific sections at geoarchaeologial sites.
