Being guided both by the published legal acts, and archival sources, this issue has attempted the investigation of a poorly studied subject in the Russian historiography as for the administrative-territorial conversion of Sevastopol districts, related to the second half of the last century. Within 1950-1970 the territory of Sevastopol underwent the most large-scale reformation, established for the whole historical period of this municipality. Instead of initially defined three districts such as Northern, Marine and Stalinist, to the middle of the 1970th the municipality comprised four parts, being named absolutely different Nakhimov‟s, Balaklava‟s, Gagarin‟s and Leninist. Moreover, the urban district was increased by two and a half times by merging the neighboring areas subject to the Crimean region – Balaklava‟s and Bakhchsarai‟s. According to the reform, implemented in the neighboring RSFSR for the deprivation of status „the city of the republican subordination‟ among 14 cities in1958, and followed by securing that status by Moscow and Leningrad only, Sevastopol retained that title due to the increase of its metropolitan area. Under the Decree of Presidium of the Supreme Council of RSFSR dated on June 3, 1958, remained 10 Russian cities of republican subordination were charged into the regional subordination and 2 cities (Krasnoyarsk and Sochi) received the territorial affiliation. As for Sevastopol, one year prior to this reform, in 1957 its area was enhanced for more than twice, permitting the city to keep a special status with financing requirements alongside to other administrative and territorial units of republic.
