Addictogenic risk of internet for adolescents

Analysis of the problem of juvenile Internet addiction was given. Relevance is determined by insufficiently defined understanding of internet addiction as a nosological entity as well as by increasing prevalence of this disorder. There are data of foreign and domestic research on prevalence of addiction at the turn of the century and in recent years. The author cites the results of his own comparative unstructured study of prevalence of Internet and drug addiction among conscripts and youth of pre-military age. A further presentation concerns social, psycho-social and technological conditions that affect adolescent enthusiasm for Internet. It describes a huge positive role of the Internet in today's world. A dependent Internet use is formed by a combination of negative factors contributing to the development of addictive personality traits. There has been a difficulty with correction and treatment of this addiction which increases the importance of its prevention for adolescents.
